What is LGA 1700 Socket?

LGA1700 is an Intel CPU socket designed specifically for the 12th generation (Alder Lake) and 13th generation (Raptor Lake) processors, supporting Intel's Core i9, Core i7, Core i5, and Core i3 series. Compared to the previous LGA1200, this socket has many improvements and is found on Intel's 600 and 700 series motherboards, supporting DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 interfaces.

Compatibility of LGA1700 and LGA1200 CPU cooler

LGA1700 was designed to replace LGA1200 (also known as Socket H5). Although the two sockets have similar physical dimensions, their pin layouts and electrical characteristics are different. The hole pitch for LGA1200 CPU cooler is 75x75mm, while for LGA1700 CPU cooler, it is 78x78mm. Therefore, users cannot use LGA1200 CPU cooler with LGA1700 sockets, nor vice versa. If you plan to upgrade your motherboard to LGA1700, it is essential to also replace the CPU cooler to ensure optimal performance.
